Congratulations 2020 graduates!

To say that the COVID-19 health pandemic has completely disrupted our routines and way of life is a vast understatement.  Some of our best traditions have been placed on pause like the celebrations surrounding graduations from High School, Colleges and Universities.

Our friends at E=MC Events have crafted a novel solution so that graduates and families can still gather to celebrate this special occasion. Working with the Calgary Stampede and Spruce Meadows and with the support of some amazing sponsors, they have developed a “Drive Thru Grad” where families can gather at predetermined times in their vehicles waiting their turn for their graduate to safely walk across a stage with their cap and gown with diploma in hand for a great photo-op that can also be broadcast for loved ones to watch online.

Hotel Arts Group is excited to assist our friends at Drive Thru Grad 2020 with prepared lunches for the volunteers for the ceremonies taking place at the Calgary Stampede June 15-20/20.  For interested families, we are also preparing Graduation Dinners To Go for curbside pickup that can be warmed up and served at home.  Chef Quinn Staple has prepared a special Asian BBQ Box Dinner featuring the following:

Nori & Scallion Corn Bread v

Charred Garlic Scape Cabbage Slaw v gf

Confit Scallion Potato Salad v gf

Sliced BBQ Brisket with Cherry Hoisin Sauce (5oz) gf

Chili Garlic Smoked Chicken Leg (3)

Mascarpone Stuffed Carrot Cake

v = vegetarian

gf = gluten free

Each Asian BBQ Box feeds 2 people.

With Yellow Door Bistro and Oxbow at Hotel Arts Kensington reopened for in-restaurant dining with physical distancing protocols, we invite graduates and their loved ones to gather at our restaurants for a celebratory meal (in groups up to 6 individuals).  Please visit us at

Congratulations graduates!  It’s been a long journey to get to this occasion.  While we can’t celebrate like we used to traditionally, we’re ready to do so creatively in ways that work for us all safely at this time. And perhaps that is the biggest lesson of all, think creatively when you encounter challenges as you might discover fresh ways to overcome obstacles.
