Fuelling a creative fire

Hotel Arts is always looking for ways to innovate and are eager to do what we can to reduce our environmental footprint. So when we realised we could fuel a glass making oven with the grease we dispose of, we were excited to forge this connection.

And so we did just that. Local artist Barry Fairbairn, makes elaborate glass sculptures out of his studio in Calgary, and we are fortunate enough to fuel his creative fire. We send about 60L of deep fried oil 2 times per week to be used in his eco-friendly furnace.

Every time we show up with a large bucket of oil, Barry smiles, and that just makes it all so symbiotic.
