Everest by Calgary Opera

Calgary Opera presents Everest, a contemporary work of opera on its tragic subject matter, with a mixture of grandiosity and tenderness. Based on the real-life Mount Everest disaster in 1996, this Canadian premiere was composed by Joby Talbot (Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) and features an original libretto by Gene Scheer (Moby Dick).

Learn more about influential fashion designer, Christian Doir at the new international fashion exhibition at the Glenbow. Exhibit curator Dr. Alexandra Palmer explores “how he made ‘women feel like women’ again after the Second World War, and why millions of women around the world were influenced by his designs”.
While you are there, check out the new exhibit featuring Calgary artist, Chris Cran, who will be debuting one new work at Glenbow, running February 9 – May 26th. Continue your art tour with a cocktail Raw Bar in Hotel Arts, where you can find 3 works by Chris Cran from his Chorus series.

February 14-18, 2019
Explore outdoor art installations and events at glow festival in downtown Calgary. The winter light festival features more than a dozen exhibits and events focused around creating magical light-filled experiences. Expect illuminated, interactive art installations, a tech fashion show by MakeFashion and a night of art and music put on by BassBus in Olympic Plaza.
