We want people to continue to think of us for unique and memorable dining experiences. We’ve accomplished so much and we’re looking forward to seeing what we can do in another five years.

February marks five years since Yellow Door Bistro opened its namesake yellow door in 2013. The restaurant will celebrate this milestone birthday all month long, offering half price Jeio Prosecco and Veuve Clicquot Champagne throughout February. Long-time fans of the restaurant should also mark their calendars for a special Throwback Menu being served on the restaurant’s original opening date, February 10.

Residing within downtown Calgary’s Hotel Arts, Yellow Door Bistro has continued to impress guests with its creative take on bistro-inspired cuisine and its whimsical and distinctive design. The restaurant is open daily and offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and its well-known weekend brunch. The menu showcases a combination of traditional classic techniques and flavours but elevates them to incorporate seasonal inspirations.

The restaurant has collected numerous awards and accolades in its five years including receiving the Tourism Calgary White Hat Restaurant of the Year award in 2015 which recognized its commitment to giving back to the local community through programs like Mealshare and its participation in initiatives that raise Calgary’s profile as a culinary destination. Yellow Door Bistro also appeared as a filming location in the first season of Emmy award-winning drama, Fargo, known as one of the most high profile productions to shoot in the city in recent years.

“It’s been an incredible five years,” says Yellow Door Bistro’s original Chef de Cuisine Quinn Staple. Now Executive Chef, he sits at the helm of all food and beverage initiatives under the Hotel Arts Group umbrella.  “We want people to continue to think of us for unique and memorable dining experiences. We’ve accomplished so much and we’re looking forward to seeing what we can do in another five years.”

Mark Wilson, General Manager of Hotel Arts Group echoes his sentiments, “It’s exciting that we’re celebrating this journey. The anniversary is a reflection of the hard work and passion of our dedicated team. We owe a big thank you to our patrons for supporting us and we’re looking forward to welcoming even more guests through our yellow door in the years to come.”

While celebrating the past, the team at Yellow Door Bistro continues to be focused on bringing new ideas to the table. Though Yellow Door Bistro will remain dedicated to offering the European bistro-inspired cuisine it always has, Chef de Cuisine Kat Edwards, who took the reins in 2017, brings a fresh perspective to the restaurant’s menus.

“I grew up on a farm so I appreciate and understand the hard work and effort that goes into where food comes from,” says Edwards. “I want to put emphasis on the incredible local products we have access to while maintaining the spirit of Yellow Door Bistro cuisine.”
